City Council Special Meeting – October 27, 2026

The City of Asheville held a specially called City Council meeting on October 27, 2026, to appoint a new city clerk and recognize outgoing clerk Maggie Berles. Council unanimously approved the appointment of Jodi Lynn Bird as city clerk, effective November 1, 2026, and she was sworn in during the meeting.

Council recognized Berles for 51 years of city service, including 31 years as city clerk, and presented a commendation thanking her for her contributions and wishing her a happy retirement. No procurement, contract, or budget matters were discussed.
