🚨 Public Safety 🏥 Healthcare Grants & Funding

At the Pasadena Finance Committee’s regular meeting on October 27, 2026, members approved two grant-related budget actions without objection. The committee approved accepting and appropriating $39,196 from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program for Pasadena Police Department unmanned aerial systems operator training and certification. The grant requires no local match and runs through October 1, 2028. Members also approved accepting a $265,000 LA Care Health Plan grant and amending the City Manager’s FY2027 operating budget to support a two-year infant and early childhood mental health program serving children and families affected by the Eaton fire. The program is expected to serve up to 24 children and families and includes a full-time licensed clinician/program coordinator; staff also described existing city resources supporting the work. Members discussed costs, expected impact, outreach, and plans to seek continued funding after the grant ends.

The committee also reviewed a citywide grants report. Members requested clearer information in future reporting on grant status, expenditures, and results, and staff agreed to gather feedback with council members and return with a more detailed discussion; staff said they hope to bring the report forward annually. No contract awards, vendor selections, or other purchasing decisions were identified.
