The Newton Traffic Council meeting on October 22, 2026, considered several parking and street-access requests. The council approved an accessible parking space at 48 Holla Street (TPR 1080) by a 3–2 vote, subject to the appeal period. It approved a resident-permit override for the existing 7 a.m.–10 a.m. parking restriction on Arapajo Road (TPR 1081) by a 5–0 vote; resident permits and visitor placards were stated to cost $25. The council also approved a no-parking restriction on the south side of Ellis Road to help ensure access for waste collection and emergency vehicles (TPR 1082), by a 3–2 vote.

The Harvey Place request to prohibit parking on both sides of the private way received no action after an abutter withdrew support; the council stated that unanimous support from all abutters is required for such a request. The council also discussed extending the trial of the Newton Center municipal-lot plaza, including unresolved questions about parking, Zipcar and employee spaces, and a potential Bluebikes station; the transcript ends before an outcome is given. No procurement, contract award, or spending decision was identified. The council noted that the city’s residential and visitor parking permit program may be updated in the coming year.
