The Town of Amherst, Massachusetts Transportation and Parking Commission met remotely on October 21, 2026. The commission voted 8–1 to recommend that the Town Council convert the eight parking spaces immediately beyond the handicap spaces near Kendrick Park to hourly, metered parking, effective with the next residential-permit renewal cycle. Members discussed notifying affected permit holders and providing public notice; the recommendation will be forwarded to the Council. No contract awards, vendor selections, or other procurement activity were identified.

The commission also discussed a proposed four-way stop at Bay Road and Southeast Street but made no decision, opting to await input from a District 5 meeting and seek additional information about traffic-safety options. On Station Road, residents raised pedestrian and bicycle safety concerns ahead of scheduled paving. Public Works indicated the immediate work would resurface the existing road without widening; potential striping and other traffic-calming measures remain under consideration. The commission planned to continue discussion of speeding and traffic-calming options at future meetings.
