The West Contra Costa Unified School District Governance Committee met on September 16, 2026, to review updates to district policies. Discussion covered the structure of the District Budget Engagement Committee and whether to combine its work with the parcel-tax committee; members favored developing a board-led committee approach, with further review needed. The committee also held the gifts, grants, and fundraising policy pending clarification of how online fundraising proceeds are handled, and held the contracts policy for further review. Travel-expense policy updates were advanced with Option 2, while staff were asked to consider whether federal per-diem guidance could help address lodging reimbursement limits. A property-loss policy recommendation included allowing the superintendent to approve recovery amounts up to $2,500.
Other policy matters included advertising and sponsorship rules, volunteer screening, district police, nutrition compliance, student wellness, student trustee service, TK teacher credentialing, and AI use. Several items were referred for additional staff or legal review, and the committee discussed developing clearer processes for education foundations and school-connected organizations. No contract awards, vendor selections, purchasing approvals, or other procurement activity were identified; no formal spending-related votes were reported.
