The Greenwich Public Schools Board of Education held its October 22, 2026 business meeting. Procurement and capital-project discussions included the Riverside School renovation, where the building committee reported selecting Arcadis as owner’s representative and said it expects to hire a construction manager soon; updated cost estimates are expected in the coming weeks for review with the capital plan. The Julian Curtiss project team expects to bid the Phase 4 construction contract in the new year. For the Western Middle School main entrance ADA project, estimated at approximately $2.5 million, the Board voted 7–0 to authorize submission of a request to the Board of Selectmen for a waiver of the school building committee requirement. The project is intended to proceed through competitive bidding, potentially in December, subject to municipal-improvement approval; the district said it would forgo state or federal construction reimbursement because the reimbursement would not justify the cost and delay.

The September financial report showed approximately $48 million in operating-budget expenditures and encumbrances, or 23% of the budget; the DECCO transportation contract had not yet been encumbered, affecting the year-over-year comparison. The Board also discussed planning for the operating and capital budgets, with the capital budget expected to receive Finance Committee review before a decision on a full-Board agenda date. Other actions included approval of the Greenwich Together student survey plan. The IT department identified AI-based email security as a possible future initiative, but no purchase or contract was approved.
