The City of East Ridge City Council meeting was held October 22, 2026. Council approved the consent agenda, including the FY2027 first-quarter financial report and October 8 minutes. It also approved Resolution 3865 to purchase a used fire-department rescue/rehab truck for $10,000, using $6,740 in surplus-vehicle proceeds and $3,260 from fund balance; Resolution 3866 to buy a 2027 Chevrolet Traverse for the Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division for $39,849.57 under state contract SWC 209 (an unbudgeted replacement after a patrol vehicle was totaled); and Resolution 3867 to purchase a used 2025 Ram ProMaster van for Animal Services. The van’s price was not stated, and staff could not confirm whether it carried a warranty. Council also accepted a $250 Chattanooga Track Club donation for fire-department medical supplies used at Camp Jordan events.
Council discussed a dog-park project bid: the $687,000 low bid did not meet the requirement that the contractor perform 50% of the work, while Integrated Builds’ qualifying bid was $773,000. Staff said value engineering could reduce that bid by about $40,000, leaving a roughly $46,000 difference from the low bid. Council gave staff direction to proceed along that course; the transcript does not record a formal vote on the project. Staff also reported that a creek-cleanout project is being prepared for bidding and that planning is underway for the 2027 paving program. A draft residential traffic-calming policy and possible changes to landscaping rules were discussed, but no action was taken on either. The transcript also includes discussion of advancing state salary supplements to eligible firefighters and police officers, but does not clearly capture a vote.
