The Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools Board of Education met on September 14, 2026. The main procurement and budget discussion concerned the district’s 2027 health-insurance renewal and Anovia direct-primary-care clinic renewal. Staff reviewed fully insured and self-funded alternatives, including proposals involving Aspirus, Security Health Plan, and stop-loss providers; no plan or carrier was selected, and administration expects to bring firm figures and a recommendation to the board in October. The current Anovia fee is $34.50 per member per month; the proposed renewal is $35.95, a 4.2% increase. The proposed renewal also includes expanded early or late clinic hours two to three days per week, with access and utilization to be monitored. The board discussed employee feedback, clinic capacity, and potential costs and disruption under the insurance alternatives.
The board approved August receipts of $7,218,270.96 and disbursements (the amount is garbled in the transcript), along with committee consent items and minutes. Donations noted included $17,500 from the Bell Foundation for a transition coordinator, $1,000 from Gaye Warner and $481.78 from the Scott Overfelt Foundation for the FS Angel Fund, and $250 from Diane Kohl. The board also approved a support-staff appointment, three support-staff resignations, and the district’s use of Ren Lewis Lacy training for Act 89. A legislative update covered a $10.5 million, five-year federal special-education workforce grant and the opening of a state/local cybersecurity grant application period; these were informational items, not district awards. No new contract award or vendor selection was made.
