Greenfield City Council meeting, October 21, 2026. The council unanimously approved an increase of $180,769 to Greenfield Community Energy and Technology’s FY2027 budget, funded from its revenues and general operations, and unanimously appropriated $271.91 from the Griswold Greenfield Tap and Die Conservation Fund to repair two rotting conservation-area boardwalks. It also unanimously authorized a letter urging additional state support for the Franklin County Tech School project; the mayor cited an estimated annual tax increase of about $263 for the average home. No contract award, RFP, or vendor selection was reported. City officials said a vendor is working on the FY2027 citywide property revaluation, and assessors noted that the current-year budget had been increased to cover the vendor, but no contract amount was provided. Capital planning was underway, with the city’s cash-account audit expected near Thanksgiving.
After public comment and debate, the council passed by majority an amended rental registry and inspection ordinance intended to improve rental-housing health and safety; discussion included the ordinance’s administrative workload, health-department staffing and funding, and a proposed fee cited by a speaker as $2.50 per unit per month. The school committee representative reported newly awarded federal and state grants, including Title I–IV and career-pathway and early-college grants, but the council took no related purchasing action. Other discussion included possible traffic-detection cameras at problem intersections, without an approval or procurement decision.
