The City of Arlington, Texas, held a PY2027 funding availability workshop on October 23, 2026, covering Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and HOME funding. Estimated available amounts include $452,221 for CDBG public services, $163,003 for ESG shelter and outreach, and $80,000 for rapid rehousing. HOME funds are not available for new applications this cycle because they have already been allocated to two community housing development organization projects for townhome construction. CDBG and ESG applications are due through Neighborly by December 4 at 5 p.m.; applications will be reviewed from December through January, followed by committee and City Council review, with the FY2027 action plan expected to be approved in April–May and the new contract year beginning July 1, 2027. No awards or spending motions were made at the workshop.
City staff and United Way of Tarrant County explained application requirements, evaluation criteria, and post-award administration. Awards are expected to be cost-reimbursement grants, with monthly draw requests, supporting documentation, and ACH payment required; ESG applicants were also advised of a 112% match requirement from non-ESG federal income. The workshop emphasized fair, consistent applicant communications through a shared grants mailbox and public FAQ, and encouraged applicants to seek reviewer feedback and submit complete applications on time. These grant and application procedures may shape future nonprofit funding opportunities, but no new procurement policy was adopted.
