The City of Issaquah Human Services Commission met on October 21, 2026. The commission discussed an upcoming funding source for children’s and families’ services: the City Council had chosen to receive the funds directly, with collection expected to begin January 1, 2027. Issaquah anticipates approximately $250,000 annually for three years. Staff said the funding would be aligned with the Human Services strategic plan and could be distributed through an RFP, with amendments to existing contracts to support additional work or capacity. The RFP process and timing were still being developed; staff planned to bring the proposed approach to the commission in Q1 2027. No grant awards or RFP approvals were made at this meeting.

The commission also reviewed the proposed combination of the Human Services Commission and Equity Board, including how their work plans, membership, and advisory roles could be brought together; a subcommittee is expected to develop recommendations for later consideration by the boards and City Council. Staff reported that Eastside Fire and Rescue’s requested budget increase had been revised from 15% to 12.9%, compared with the City’s 12% budget assumption, and said the anticipated difference was manageable. A park bond renewal was noted as appearing on the November ballot. The commission approved the September minutes by motion and second.
