The Fairfield Plan and Zoning Commission met on October 27, 2026. No contract awards, vendor selections, or purchasing approvals were identified. The main public-infrastructure item was the Town’s application to upgrade the sewer pump station at 1610 Fairfield Beach Road. The Commission unanimously approved the special exception and coastal site plan, with erosion-control and permeable-surface conditions and a recommendation for continued coordination with neighbors on design. Commissioners described the station as critical infrastructure; Clean Water Act funding was mentioned as potentially affected by litigation, but no funding amount or procurement decision was discussed.

The Commission also approved a Sacred Heart University athletic-field and site-improvement application and a zoning amendment allowing pole lighting up to 80 feet through case-by-case special-exception review; an amendment to limit the lighting rule to universities and affiliated schools failed. On affordable housing, a majority informally supported Summit Development’s offer of four additional deed-restricted units at 1427 Kings Highway and a $100,000 contribution to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, but deferred a formal vote until conditions are drafted for a future meeting. The Thorpe Street application was continued after the Commission received substantive DEP comments.
