The Kane County Public Service Committee met on October 22, 2026. Members approved the September 17 minutes and later placed department reports on file; no contract awards, bids, budget allocations, or other procurement decisions were identified. The Treasurer-Collector reported tax collections at 98.19% as of September 29 and described the upcoming automated tax sale. The Supervisor of Assessments discussed plans to use data analysis beginning in January to target possible homestead-exemption outreach or audits; no decision to hire an outside audit company was made. The Regional Office of Education reported on student services and community outreach, while the Veterans Assistance Commission shared its monthly report and an upcoming VA 101 seminar.

Much of the County Clerk’s discussion concerned a vendor-related error that caused 2,000 vote-by-mail ballots to be printed and sent a second time. Clerk’s staff said they identified the affected batch, contacted most recipients, and use ballot-processing safeguards to flag duplicates. They said they would discuss preventive measures with the vendor after the election; members also raised whether the vendor would be responsible for the associated costs, but no payment or contract action was taken. The committee also discussed election administration, early voting and ballot tracking, along with public comments on elections and county officials. No procurement activity was identified.
