Allegheny County Economic Development virtual public meeting on October 22, 2026, reviewed Allegheny DC Propco LLC’s preliminary land development plan for a proposed data center at 151 Porter Street in Springdale Borough. The submitted project includes a roughly 535,000-square-foot building, two generator yards with approximately 62 generators, two substations, and related site work. The county and borough engineers identified numerous items requiring clarification or revision, including parcel ownership and consolidation, cemetery access, stormwater management, contaminated soils and the Act 2 remediation process, noise modeling, air permitting, landscaping, accessibility, and utility plans. The applicant said updated plans and further details would be submitted ahead of the October 28 meeting; several third-party permits remain pending, and the applicant noted that an air installation permit is required before construction can begin.

Public commenters raised concerns about air emissions, noise, energy and water demand, environmental and health impacts, and incomplete application materials; some labor representatives supported the project for its construction and workforce opportunities. The county explained that this review concerns compliance with its land development ordinance and does not replace borough zoning or other agencies’ permitting processes. No vote or approval decision was taken, and no procurement, contract award, or public spending allocation was identified. Written comments are accepted through November 30, 2026.
