The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education meeting on October 21, 2026, included a unanimous approval of $11.528 million in additional scope for the 2024 bond plan. The work includes $5.378 million for Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center upgrades, air conditioning in four remaining school gyms, relocation of the transitions program to Mountain Range High School, and approximately $1.4 million in additional scope for converting Shadow Ridge Middle School to a P–8 facility. The first three items will use existing bond contingency; the Shadow Ridge work was previously approved as part of the school consolidation plan, with estimated costs rising from $3.6 million to about $5 million after design. The board also received the Finance and Audit Committee’s annual monitoring report, which noted 519 transactions reviewed through the district’s review and bid process and committee participation in the audit-vendor RFP selection. The report identified no major findings; audit-vendor selection involves competitive proposals, scoring, finalist interviews, and rotation of audit partners.

Other business included proclamations recognizing White Cane Month, Native American Heritage Month, and Homeless and Highly Mobile Youth Awareness Month; approval of a resolution opposing Colorado Proposition 135; and review of student achievement data. During public comment, a parent raised concerns about alleged mistreatment of students with special needs and requested transparency and continuity of support; a board member said a further investigation had concluded and that the district would review its findings. No other contract awards or purchasing approvals were identified.
