The SPS Board of Education Buildings & Grounds Committee met on October 21, 2026. The committee approved the agenda and its February 18, 2026 meeting minutes; no procurement-related motions or contract awards were recorded. The facilities report noted that the central office boiler replacement was about 80% complete, with burners and a chimney assembly issue remaining. Work on the Shelton High School turf was underway. An open bid with the city for remaining band-room work—extending risers for MDA compliance and adding a chair lift—was expected to go out that week; the work was described as fully funded within the existing budget. An HVAC mechanical evaluation is under contract, with initial site visits planned for Christmas break.

Staff also planned bids for auditorium carpet at the intermediate school and main-office carpet at Perry Hill, and were beginning a bid process for the Elizabeth Shelton gym floor. Because asbestos-containing material may be present beneath that floor, demolition and possible abatement may be handled as a separate bid item; the committee also discussed researching moisture-suitable flooring alternatives. Other potential future spending needs included backflow-prevention repairs or replacements, with a contractor quote on one device planned to inform the budget, and a possible Shelton High School roof replacement as a future capital priority. The Bel High School press-box project had an $8,700 budget; window-sill repairs and possible carpet replacement were still under consideration.
