The Oregon City Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee met on October 22, 2026. The city reported that it selected MIG through an RFP to prepare an ADA self-assessment and transition plan covering city facilities and parks. Site evaluations are complete for 28 parks, with preliminary cost estimates to inform phased accessibility upgrades; the work is an unfunded federal requirement. A public-review draft is targeted for late March 2027. The committee also received an updated Liberty Plaza concept from Level Development Northwest and Lango Hansen. The proposal would create a larger, more accessible downtown gathering space, with the plaza parcel intended to be dedicated to the city, but no final agreement or funding arrangement has been negotiated. Any use of city resources could require changes to the capital improvement plan and city commission approval.
Staff presented proposed pool schedule changes based on an assessment: Sunday operations could begin in early spring 2027, subject to staffing-cost analysis and potentially a supplemental budget, while swim-team lane-use changes are targeted for September 2027 after contract renegotiations; city commission approval is required. Staff also noted a forthcoming consultant review of recreation fee structures. Other project updates included a dog park nearing completion pending construction of shelters, ball-court resurfacing planned for spring, and continued design work for Clackamas Park and the aquatic and recreation center. The committee approved the prior meeting minutes; no procurement-related award or spending motion was recorded.
