At its October 21, 2026 meeting, the Sumner County Board of Construction Appeals approved the prior meeting minutes and the agenda as amended. Members discussed revised health and safety standards for shipping containers: the standards allow them only as accessory structures, with requirements including cladding and other residential-code provisions. The county cannot issue permits for these structures until the zoning regulations are updated to align with the standards. The board also elected Bruce Quinn vice chairman.

The board considered how to handle refunds of adequate facility taxes when a planned home is reduced in size or not built. Staff reported approximately 12–15 such requests over the past three to four years and cited the refund policy, which allows refunds for double payments or overpayments. A motion was made to instruct the building codes department to issue refunds in overpayment situations, but the transcript does not clearly record a vote or outcome. No procurement or contract awards were identified.
