The HCCS school board meeting on October 26, 2026, included updates on facilities projects and district finances. Staff reported that a roughly $9 million high school project is nearing completion, including controls and commissioning, entrance glazing, and locker-room work. Secured-entry projects at Flint Springs, Andrews, Lincoln, and Salamonie were also nearing punch-list completion. A public bid notice has been issued for next summer’s previously approved Salamonie pool demolition, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for November 10; the district is awaiting bids and plans to consider the work alongside the Horseman HVAC bid. No new contract awards were made. Riverview site work is underway, and window blinds have been ordered. The board also discussed monitoring the operations fund and building-repair expenditures; the September financial report was presented for approval.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included donations and professional-leave requests. The Huntington County Community Learning Center was authorized to accept 10 donations totaling $4,450, and a $63,000 grant for Lincoln Elementary’s special services program was noted. Four proposed elective courses received a first reading; staff said they could be offered within existing staffing and curriculum resources, with a later action item expected. The board also approved policies on second reading, including an AI policy that staff expect to revisit as guidance evolves. No specific procurement contract or vendor selection was approved at the meeting.
