October Regular Board Meeting 102226

The October 19, 2026 regular meeting of the Caledonia Community Schools Board included approval of an emergency contract for replacement of the exterior door-entry system at Door 1 of Caledonia High School. The board unanimously approved a contract with Fiser (also transcribed as Fisher) Door and Hardware, Inc., also identified as AB Lock and Safe, for an amount not to exceed $36,500. The work is needed because the doors and framing have deteriorated with age and heavy use; the district said there had been no break-in and no current security issues at the high school. Saturday installation is not planned, and wiring and security film are excluded from the estimate, with security film to be considered as a later addition.

The board also heard that the high school received a $10,000 sustainability grant from Prime for its Society of Mechanical Engineers (theme) program, which provides students with manufacturing and engineering exposure. The superintendent said the fiscal year 2026 audit is expected to be presented in November, and proposed Neola policy revisions will begin a two-reading process in November and conclude in December; no policy revisions were adopted at this meeting.
