The City of Murfreesboro Planning Commission met on October 21, 2026, to review development plans, zoning requests, and right-of-way matters. No contracts, vendor selections, bids, or budget allocations were considered, so no procurement activity was identified. The Commission recommended approval of abandoning excess right-of-way at Veterans Parkway and Hartman Farm Court for incorporation into a city parcel intended for a police precinct and fire station; easements for existing utility infrastructure must be retained. The city’s design consultant, Gresham Smith, was mentioned, but no contract decision was made. Site plans were approved for an Ascension Saint Thomas freestanding emergency room, conditioned on East Pitts Lane road improvements being completed before its certificate of occupancy, and for a Waste Management hauling facility. The Ascension project is a 10,574-square-foot hospital; the Waste Management facility includes a 20,147-square-foot building and natural-gas fueling infrastructure.

The Commission also approved or recommended approval of several other development applications, including the Brinkley Avenue PUD, Trustpoint Hospital courtyard additions, and residential plats. Laurel Stone’s Section 2 approval included limits on building permits until its amenity center is completed and receives a certificate of occupancy, with final plat recording subject to that condition. The Sulphur Springs plat was approved with a single driveway and shared access-road maintenance. Public hearings were scheduled for November 4 on a proposed MTSU-associated graduate hotel and Middle Tennessee Christian School zoning, and for December 2 on an annexation and a Scannell Properties PUD. The Scannell proposal was revised to remove data centers from permitted uses, among other changes.
