The Bloomfield Township Public Library Board of Trustees met on October 20, 2026, and reviewed renovation spending and the library’s financial statements. The Board approved monthly cash disbursements totaling $1,011,549.90. Discussion included roughly $42,000 in building-permit charges, an $8,190 shelving move and disposal payment, and a $99,000 first construction payment; McCarthy and Smith is managing construction, with C2AE providing design and architectural services. A separate report showed $347,000 budgeted for new shelving, which had not yet been paid, and the library said construction remained generally on schedule. Trustees also discussed payment-processing upgrades using Bill.com, obtained at a discounted rate through work with Plante Moran; staff are developing procedures and an electronic-payments policy for future Board consideration.

A consultant from MGT presented a staffing assessment with recommendations to evaluate adding full-time librarian staffing and a dedicated marketing role, review certain positions and scheduling practices, and improve exit-interview and staffing data. No staffing changes or related spending were approved; library leadership said it would assess costs and priorities and bring an implementation plan through the personnel and budget processes. The library also planned an off-site staff development day, partly supported by Friends funding, and reported that early voting would take place in the community room during construction.
