The Fall River Historical Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting, listed as October 20, 2026 (recording metadata: October 21), considered several historic-preservation projects and funding-support requests. The commission voted to add 403 Anawan Street to the city’s Significant Structures List and approved letters of support for preservation work at 403 Anawan Street, First Congregational Church, Bethel AME Church, Family Service Association, and the Little Theatre. The requests included tower restoration, roof and masonry repairs, and modernization of the historic elevator at 101 Rock Street; Family Service Association identified Atlantic Elevator as its preferred vendor for a systems upgrade while retaining the elevator cabin. These were support actions, not contract awards or confirmed funding approvals. The Children’s Museum item was tabled after the applicant did not attend.

Parks Director Darren Medeiros sought support for Kennedy Park sidewalk work. The project was estimated at about $400,000; removing two unused sidewalk sections was estimated to cost about $75,000, with lawn restoration costing $25,000–$30,000 and a projected savings of roughly $40,000. The commission approved removing those sections and returning the area to lawn, and separately approved reducing the main path width from 13 feet to 12 feet. Under old business, members heard that Bank Street Armory boiler work may proceed using city funds and that bids were coming in for exterior vegetation removal; bidders had not yet been secured for a building study. The commission also discussed pending legal and city-council steps for the proposed 40C district expansion.
