The Rockingham County Board of Elections held its regular meeting on October 20, 2026. The board approved the agenda and the consent item approving the August 18 meeting minutes. It also approved a resolution to begin counting early-voting ballots at 5:00 p.m. on November 3 at 240 Cherokee Camp Road, with counting to pause before polls close at 7:30 p.m.; the public may observe, but election results will not be announced during the count. The board discussed early-voting operations, including a public concern about curbside voting and parking safety at the Bridge Street Recreation Center, and said the site would be assessed after the election.
The board approved changing how it communicates whether meetings will be held: notices will state that a meeting has been called for a month or that there is no called meeting, rather than describing a meeting as canceled. Members also reviewed voter reminders and polling-site guidance, including voting locations, ballot photo-ID and absentee deadlines, tent and campaign-sign safety, parking access for voters, and directing concerns to chief judges. No procurement activity, contract awards, or spending decisions were identified.
