The Franklin Township Zoning Board continued its October 15, 2026 hearing on the Taweed Dawa Center’s amended site-plan application. The applicant said the worship area had been reduced to 6,864 square feet, matching the area in a prior approval, and proposed 97 constructed parking spaces with 60 additional spaces land-banked, for 157 total. The applicant also agreed to design stormwater management to meet the township’s 2023 requirements. Discussion focused on parking calculations, occupancy and operating limits, traffic, drainage, and how the land-banked spaces could be used. The stated expected attendance was 50–60 people for regular services, approximately 70–80 during Ramadan, and up to 150 for occasional special events; the application’s conditions and occupancy figures remained points of concern and discussion.
No contract award, purchase, budget allocation, or other procurement action was identified, and the board did not make a final decision on the application. In a nonbinding straw poll, board members supported pursuing a left-turn lane into the site, with the applicant’s attorney to report back after consulting the client. The hearing was continued to the following week for further questioning and testimony.
