08/19/2026 Curriculum Committee Meeting

The WUSD Board of Education Curriculum Committee met on August 19, 2026, for an informational review of curriculum work. Members discussed the schedule for completing course guides, which are intended to document course content and provide transparency for families and staff; the administration plans to resume work in October and present guides on a monthly basis. The committee also reviewed the district’s seven-year curriculum cycle and agreed that broader changes to the cycle should wait until a new curriculum and instruction director is in place. No items were advanced to the full board.

The committee discussed exploring classical-education elements, particularly literature selections and possibly world-language offerings, without deciding on a program or adoption. It reviewed a proposed K–12 Spanish and German curriculum review, including analysis of current materials, student performance, and postsecondary language placement. Members also discussed further review of Wit & Wisdom materials; staff noted that additional materials might cost about $1,000 if needed for a new teacher, but no purchase was approved. No contract awards, bids, or other procurement actions were identified.
