The School District of Superior Committee of the Whole met on August 4, 2026. The board approved administration’s recommendation to contract with Rutler to manage replacement of the football-field turf and track, along with related drainage and baseball/softball-area work. The district cited negotiated management fees of 6.5% plus a $10,000 lump sum, down from 8.5% plus $12,000. Preliminary estimates discussed were about $550,000 for football turf, $200,000 each for the track and drainage, and $100,000 for baseball/softball areas. The district said the work was budgeted and supported by a prior $1.3 million donation; the schedule is expected to target summer work, subject to project sequencing and material selection.
A Garland Company presentation reviewed middle-school roof conditions and options. Garland estimated about $7.7 million for its proposed longer-life roof system, compared with about $5.6 million for a lower-cost, fully adhered option, while arguing the proposed system would reduce long-term ownership costs. No roofing contract was awarded at this meeting: the district discussed seeking board approval to proceed with design and then conducting a public bid, with bids anticipated in October and final approval targeted for November 2026 for work in 2027. The superintendent also reported moving funds to bring Fund 46 to about $9 million, which was described as sufficient to cover the roof project and as reducing equalization aid or taxes by roughly $200,000. Other topics included required staff-student communication policy changes, staff development, summer school, and possible education-funding resolutions; no additional procurement awards were identified.
