The Town of Smyrna Council workshop was held July 30, 2026. Council discussed proposed procurement and spending actions, including authorizing an agreement with Ward Diesel for diesel-exhaust filters on fire apparatus, with a possible grant sought for equipping the remaining fleet; replacing a sidewalk handrail on Rock Springs Road through Premier Fence; and an annual stormwater and concrete work agreement with Rollins Excavating Company, which received the highest evaluation score. Other proposed agreements included a six-month January–September rental of the Robot Zoo exhibit, legal services from E. Evan Cop PLLC for property and easement litigation associated with the Stewart Creek gravity sewer project, and a two-year pest-control contract with Wayne’s Pest Control, the only bidder, with two optional one-year extensions. The pest-control price increased slightly and is expected to fit within the current budget. No contract amounts were stated for these agreements. The council also discussed a one-year repayment plan for $62,000 in bypass-pumping and repair expenses after an excavator incident at Neil Avenue.

Other business included the annual stormwater report required by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, planning-fee schedule amendments, a resolution concerning confidentiality of certain cybersecurity vendors under state law, and a proposed 2% franchise fee on TDS Telecom revenue as the provider expands service into Smyrna. The meeting also included a residential-code update, a rezoning request, a wellness proclamation, and community announcements. The transcript records discussion of the proposed items but does not capture votes or final approvals.
