The WUSD Board of Education Educational Services Committee met on September 8, 2026. The committee received an update on Constitution Day activities across district schools; approximately 2,000 constitutions had been ordered and distributed, with no cost, vendor, or approval vote discussed. Members also reviewed student transitions associated with Lincoln and LEAP, including a draft process for communicating preliminary placements in December, considering family feedback, and finalizing placements by February 1. The broader District of the Future group is being paused while the district clarifies its scope and goals; programming discussions may resume in October. A Zello career-exploration demo is available for board review, and staff were asked to provide access. No contract award or new purchasing decision was identified.

Members discussed whether neighborhood-school assignments could reduce transportation costs and requested data on current student attendance patterns and the fiscal implications, including routing. The district noted that it currently has 15 routes approved through Rightway, alongside routes through DNH; no new transportation action or contract vote was taken. The committee also raised school capacity and facilities concerns for follow-up through the Planning Committee, and requested a board calendar of school events and visit opportunities. Educational goals are expected to return for discussion in October after an administrative review.
