The Madison County, Tennessee Board of County Commissioners meeting on September 21, 2026 included several purchasing and property actions. Commissioners approved a $79,000 phase-one contract with TLM for architectural services at 310 North Parkway to assess the facility and recommend its layout and use; a contract with Govwell for Building Department software, supported by a $30,200 appropriation; and a continuing annual Pitney Bowes contract for the Sheriff’s Department mailing system. The commission also approved purchasing property on Old Denmark Road for $165,000, with the county retaining the timber. A separate discussion concerned 115 acres on the county’s west side as potential industrial park property; rezoning and environmental review would be needed, and funding and final purchase approval would return to the commission. Nine excess properties were cleared for auction on October 16, and the commission approved transferring 164 Arlington Avenue to the City instead of auctioning it.
Other financial and operational items included a recommendation to use the debt service fund balance to pay off the Jackson Central-Merry note, estimated at more than $17 million and due in March 2027; no action was taken on that recommendation. Commissioners approved several budget amendments and grant-related appropriations, including a $100,000 broadband grant reappropriation and a fiscal year 2027 cybersecurity grant. A sick- and annual-leave policy change passed by roll-call vote, 13–11 with one abstention. The commission also adopted rules requiring resolutions to identify a sponsoring commissioner or committee and requiring new commissioners to complete county technology and orientation training. The East Elementary queuing lane project was reported complete and open for use.
