🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚨 Public Safety Physical Infrastructure

The Town of Smyrna Town Council held a workshop on September 24, 2026, to set the October meeting agenda. Proposed consent items included authorizing the mayor to execute a roadway-sweeping agreement with Sweeping Corporation of America; staff said the vendor would hold prices at the current contract level despite rising fuel costs. Council also reviewed a proposed agreement with Magnet Forensics for GreyKey services used by detectives to access encrypted phones collected as evidence. No contract amounts were stated, and no votes were taken at the workshop. The council also discussed a proposed police procedure amendment covering spit masks and leg restraints; the vendor and specific equipment had not been selected, and council members requested product information before further consideration.

Infrastructure updates included notice that the Cedarstone Phase One bid was out, ongoing milling, paving, and striping work, and a warning that higher fuel-related costs could affect the town’s planned street-resurfacing list. Staff said it may pause work and return with an update on which lower-priority roads can be completed within the available budget; council requested a broader update covering all departments after the first of the year. Council also discussed development items for future consideration, including required roadway improvements and sewer upgrades associated with the Bankside development, but took no action on those items at the workshop.
