Committee of the Whole/School Board meeting of Mukwonago Area Schools, October 12, 2026. The board reviewed two preliminary high-school fitness-facility concepts in response to weight-room capacity and safety concerns. One concept would convert the existing turf gym into an approximately 12,000-square-foot weight room and add a 35,000-square-foot fieldhouse; the other would retain the turf gym and add a 12,500-square-foot weight room. For the second concept, estimated costs were $5.8 million for the weight-room addition and $2.4 million for locker-room renovations. No project was approved: the board requested further information for its next meeting, including refined costs, student demand and capacity data, possible community-use fees, and the future condition of the turf facility. Staff indicated the weight-room expansion would use capital funds rather than referendum proceeds; the locker-room work may be eligible for a separate capital-project fund.

The board also reviewed a tentative budget and tax levy, with final adoption planned for the following week. Projections showed operating deficits rising from about $938,000 next year to $3.7 million in later years under one scenario, alongside a preliminary 7.3% increase in the combined tax levy. Members discussed declining enrollment, Eagleville’s costs and enrollment outlook, and potential shared services or consolidation with Palmyra-Eagle; no direction was approved. The district reported a temporary food-service arrangement supporting Palmyra-Eagle through December 18, with reimbursement for actual employee costs. No competitive solicitation or vendor award was identified.
