09/22/2026 Special Board of Education Meeting

The MPSD Board of Education held a special meeting on September 22, 2026. The board approved the personnel report by motion and vote after discussing a new report format and concerns about limiting employee personal information. District legal counsel then led a discussion on board member authority and public expression, confidentiality, the board–superintendent relationship, and open meetings and public records. Counsel advised members to distinguish personal opinions from official board positions, direct constituent and staff concerns through appropriate administrative channels, and avoid conducting their own investigations or responding impulsively to misinformation online.

The meeting also included brief scheduling and agenda discussion. Members discussed adding a city-related matter to an upcoming Finance Committee agenda, including what information or insert the city would need; an example had been provided for sharing. No contracts, vendor selections, bid approvals, procurement decisions, or spending allocations were identified.
