The City of Franklin Public Library Board’s special meeting on July 23, 2026, focused on coordination with the Franklin Public Library Foundation and fundraising for a children’s area redesign. The board discussed vendor proposals from Demco, Library Furniture International, and Lakeshore Learning. Demco’s revised proposal was about $150,000 below its initial quote, reducing it from roughly $590,000 to $440,000, partly by reusing existing shelving. Members said further savings may be possible, and Demco was willing to phase the work based on available funds. No vendor was selected and no contract or purchase was approved. The Foundation has allocated up to $60,000 toward the project; the target is completion by the library’s 25th anniversary in May 2027, with safety and accessibility improvements prioritized alongside shelving and other furnishings.

The board also reviewed Foundation fundraising plans, including a Panera fundraiser expected to return 30% of net sales and several upcoming sales and events. Members discussed seeking donations and sponsors, and the possibility of additional City funding, but no City funding decision was made. The only recorded motion was to adjourn.
