The Coffee County Capital Outlay Committee met October 1, 2026. Members approved withholding retainage on the animal shelter project until the outstanding punch-list items are addressed, including concerns involving door hardware, concrete slopes, ductwork, kennel rust, and other repairs. The committee also discussed ongoing negotiations over liquidated damages; the county’s proposed amount was approximately $20,350, which the contractor rejected. Members supported potentially holding a special meeting with the county attorney to discuss the matter. The health department project was nearly complete, with warranty repairs still underway.
The maintenance supervisor reported that the Justice Center roof project was about 60% complete; two change orders had been approved, and a small additional change order for an uncovered expansion joint was being submitted. The Tullahoma Library project had held a pre-bid meeting attended by contractors. The committee approved a motion to obtain bids for Justice Center signage. The trustee’s office workstation renovation was complete, with replacement carpet tiles still needed. Members also approved proposed sign-boundary measurements for the Magistrate Plaza to forward to the full commission for consideration.
