The Oregon Planning Commission met on September 3, 2026, and considered a general development plan for the proposed Featherwood Trails neighborhood, submitted by Veridian Homes. The proposal adds 27 units, combining detached and attached single-family homes, and includes new road connections, stormwater facilities, and improvements along Netherwood Road. The applicant reported that the development is expected to generate about 2,500 daily trips; the traffic analysis found intersections would generally operate adequately, with a marginal level-of-service concern at Alpine Parkway. Commissioners and residents raised questions about traffic and pedestrian safety, stormwater overflow, nearby wells, sewer capacity, road maintenance, and impacts on existing residents. The commission voted to recommend approval of the GDP to the Village Board; the motion carried with at least one vote opposed. The related site plan item was moved toward postponement for a future meeting, with commissioners seeking further information, including the traffic study and potential impacts on wells and the Fish Hatchery Road/Netherwood Road intersection.
The commission also discussed accessory dwelling unit and short-term rental rules, with staff planning to bring forward ordinance language for a later public hearing; no action was taken on those proposals. Staff gave schedule updates on ongoing Alpine/CC, East Lincoln Street, and wastewater collection projects, but no contracts, bids, vendor selections, or procurement approvals were identified. Public comments referenced prior infrastructure costs, including an approximately $3 million water-source project, but the commission did not consider a related spending decision.
