At the August 24, 2026, City of Franklin, Wisconsin Library Board meeting, trustees approved invoices of approximately $1,478.72 from Fund 15 and $2,150 from Fund 16; the motions carried. The board reviewed the children’s area redesign proposals to help establish a project scope and fundraising target. Demco’s revised proposal was about $431,000, down from nearly $591,000, with further savings expected from donated and reused shelving. Library Furniture International’s estimate was about $154,914, but it excluded some shelving and included items with pricing still to be determined, so the estimates were not directly comparable. Members expressed stronger support for Demco’s design, but no vendor selection or contract award was recorded. Staff planned to continue refining the design, gather public feedback, and develop fundraising materials and a project timeline.

The board also reviewed budget performance: expenditures were reported at 56% of budget, operating supplies at 78.4%, and unusually high summer natural-gas costs remained under investigation. Equipment maintenance included an annual contract. Staff discussed upcoming building work, including valve replacements, and delays in receiving a response from Johnson Controls. No related purchase or contract decision was made.
