At the September 28, 2026, School District of Menomonee Falls board meeting, members discussed a proposed community survey on the district’s financial needs and possible referendum options. Staff cited about $5 million in savings already achieved, a projected additional $1.1 million in reductions, and a potential annual operating deficit of about $8 million by 2030–31. The survey, planned for October 21 through November 9, will ask for feedback on nonrecurring, four-year operating funding options and a potential $15 million facilities referendum. The facilities discussion covered needs identified through a districtwide study, including safety and security, accessibility, and infrastructure work. No decision was made to proceed with a referendum, and no procurement awards or spending motions were reported; the survey is intended to inform future board decisions.
The board also discussed changing food-service policy so that families with negative meal balances would be contacted for collections twice a year, rather than students being provided an alternate meal after a specified balance threshold. Staff said the change was feasible given donations and improved balances. The meeting also included discussion of the district calendar. No contract awards, vendor selections, or bid approvals were identified.
