Johnson City Schools’ October Board Meeting on October 12, 2026, included updates on ongoing and planned facilities work. At Town Acres, construction continued with steel delivered and roof framing expected to begin soon. A bid package for central-office vestibule renovations was expected by the end of October. HVAC upgrades and controls work were underway or scheduled at Mountain View and Indian Trail, while specifications for roof replacements at Mountain View and Market Street were being prepared for purchasing solicitations. The facilities update also noted Freedom Hall pool repairs by two contractors, including Burwell for structural work; no contract awards or new procurement approvals were reported. Mountain View’s principal said four playground units are being purchased with Board funding and a donation from Grace Fellowship. The district also reported that its school van had been used 467 times to support attendance.
The Board accepted the monthly financial report, which showed August expenditures of about $11.887 million and a year-to-date net fund-balance increase of $159,000, and received a sales-tax PEP update reporting an account balance of about $4.651 million at the end of August. The consent agenda was approved. The meeting also included a 6–1 vote to retain a challenged library book under district policy; this was not a procurement decision. No specific contract amounts or vendor selections were approved in the transcript.
