The Waunakee School District Board of Education held a special meeting on August 24, 2026. The board approved a resolution authorizing temporary cash-flow borrowing of up to $13.1 million (the motion described it as up to $13 million). The district expects to borrow between the meeting and the September board meeting to bridge the gap between state aid payments and property-tax receipts and maintain payroll and accounts payable. It plans to pool the borrowing with seven other school districts to reduce costs and improve terms; the borrowing itself will occur at a later date. No vendor selection or procurement contract award was discussed.

The board also reviewed a draft policy on how future state funding could affect local property-tax levies for the district’s operational referendum. The draft would limit additional levies if state funding adequately supports compensation costs, but members requested clearer wording distinguishing increased revenue limits from actual state aid. The board did not approve the draft and plans to revise and bring it back for consideration in September. The meeting concluded with approval to adjourn.
