Jefferson County Schools, Tennessee, held a school board work session on September 28, 2026. The building and maintenance update covered several capital projects: Talbott Elementary was nearing completion, Jefferson Middle School’s HVAC work is expected to continue into early 2027 with later controls adjustments, and the high school building was largely complete and in use. A purchase order had been issued for agricultural equipment, including pins, chutes, corrals, and head gates. The board also discussed a roughly $12 million completed project with about $90,000 in change orders, and a separate project budget described as approximately $24 million with about $1.1 million in contingency; no new award or spending vote on these projects was recorded at the work session.
Bleacher installations were discussed, including a project scheduled for November 23 with an approximately $120,000 figure cited, and a Rush Strong gym bleacher project that has funding but may not yet have been awarded. The turf circle at home plate had been awarded to Baseline; restroom work still required architectural documents before it could be bid. A board member proposed obtaining cost information for digital message signs, without requesting an allocation at this stage. Members also reviewed utility and fuel costs, noting propane bus fueling at about $1.79 per gallon versus a prior price near $3.79, with two additional propane buses reportedly ordered. Public comment included a request to reconsider the district’s TSBA membership, citing $8,130 in dues; the board took no action on that request. No procurement-related vote was recorded at the session.
