The Chautauqua County Planning & Economic Development Committee meeting on October 21, 2026, approved a resolution accepting and authorizing execution of a $1 million Empire State Development County Infrastructure Grant for Phase 3 of the Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer District extension. The extension is part of a $35 million project, previously made viable by a 50% Water Infrastructure Improvement Act grant, and is expected to serve 623 parcels within the district and nine outside it. Officials cited phosphorus reduction and potential development opportunities, including 66 identified sites and a planned 174-unit development. The committee carried the resolution; officials said district costs are covered by user fees rather than county tax dollars, and additional grant funding is being pursued.
The committee also approved a resolution related to reapplying for a CDBG Microenterprise Grant: the county is seeking $250,000 for its third program round, up from $200,000 previously. The coordinator reported that the prior rounds assisted 17 small businesses, with 16 still operating; the public-hearing paperwork was being redone after an error. The committee authorized a public hearing for the eight-year review of Agricultural District 10, which involves notices to just under 2,000 enrolled landowners. No vendor awards or purchasing decisions were discussed.
