10.19.26 Special Meeting

The Gilmer County Board of Education held a special meeting on October 20, 2026. After public comment about school funding, special education, and the Hope Scholarship program, the board approved the superintendent’s recommendation to expel student E003 for no more than two consecutive semesters. It also approved the drug-free workplace and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing policy, and policy 2952 on the youth basketball program. Discussion clarified that AAU tournaments are outside the school program and not a coach’s responsibility under the policy.

No contracts, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified. The public comment raised concerns about state education funding, but no funding action was taken at this meeting.
