The City of Bangor Tree Board’s quarterly meeting, titled “Tree Board 10.21.26” (October 21, 2026), reviewed forestry operations and a draft urban forestry management plan. The Forestry Division reported closing 88 service requests and removing 41 trees in the third quarter, including removals under the emerald ash borer management plan. Members discussed tracking planting and removal numbers, maintaining newly planted trees, public outreach, and a proposed goal of increasing citywide tree canopy from 51.2% to 55%. The consultant from EOCEN Environmental presented recommendations; the plan is expected to go to the Infrastructure Committee in December, with an annual progress-tracking spreadsheet proposed. No vote on the plan was reported.
The board also discussed coordinating pavement removal and tree planting with future sidewalk work, with forestry seeking to include pavement-removal labor and equipment needs in its budget. Plans include building out three medians for possible spring planting and coordinating removal of invasive shrubs downtown. Staffing updates included filling an arborist vacancy and hiring a cemetery sexton. No contract awards, RFPs, vendor selections, purchasing approvals, or other procurement actions were identified; no spending-related motion or vote was reported.
