🚨 Public Safety Emergency Response

The North Haven Board of Fire Commission met on October 20, 2026. The chief reported that the department updated its ambulance-service contract with Y Access Ambulance (formerly Nelson Ambulance), extending service through 2029; the existing contract was due to expire in November 2026. The service terms were unchanged, with only the dates revised, and the department reported satisfaction with the service. No contract amount was stated, and no vote on the update was recorded. The fire budget was reported at 29.1%, with budget paperwork and workshops still forthcoming.

The commission also discussed fleet maintenance and operational readiness: Engine 6 was undergoing repairs, another engine was scheduled for service, and apparatus visibility improvements were planned with Fast Signs and Solly’s Garage. The department was coordinating replacement of five out-of-service hydrants with the RWA. Commissioners discussed the age and replacement needs of engines and rescue vehicles, but no purchase approval or capital allocation was made. The chief also described a planned 24/7 volunteer apparatus team to provide highway traffic blocking. The commission voted to enter executive session and later adjourned; no procurement-related vote was recorded.
