The Village of Orland Park Plan Commission met on October 20, 2026, and received a progress update from Keen Independent Research, working with Theater Projects, on a feasibility study of a potential performing arts center and Centennial Park West (CPW). Commissioners discussed community demand, possible locations and capacity, and potential multipurpose uses such as local performances, classes, rentals, and community events. The consultants said they are developing venue and operating scenarios, with market analysis and preliminary results expected in November and a final operational plan and pro forma to estimate capital and operating costs later in the study. No dollar estimates, funding allocations, contract awards, or purchasing decisions were presented. For CPW, the study will compare village operation with outside management; Live Nation and AEG were mentioned as possible examples, but no operator was selected. Commissioners also raised accessibility, restroom, parking, noise, neighborhood impacts, and event-fee concerns, and suggested community uses such as sports-viewing events and food-truck gatherings.
The Commission also considered land development code amendment case 2026-0982 concerning building heights in the R2A, R3, R3A, and R4 zoning districts. Following discussion about the height limits and how the 15-foot separation rule applies, the Commission unanimously approved a motion recommending the amendment; the transcript indicates the change concerns height and does not alter setbacks. This zoning recommendation may affect future residential development, but no procurement activity was identified.
