The Swartz Creek Community Schools Board of Education meeting was held October 21, 2026. Procurement and spending discussions included the bond committee’s report that previously approved bids for next summer’s elementary-school work were moving through contract processing. The facilities committee reported that an asbestos-abatement RFP was being prepared for next summer, pool-repair estimates had been received (the transcript gives amounts of about $6,000 and $5,000), and staff would review the proposals before reporting back. Three replacement buses were proposed at $157,933 each, or $473,799 total, but the board did not vote on the purchase. Two used buses that failed to meet the board’s $6,500 minimum sale price were relisted at $5,500. The committee also discussed protective coating for vehicles and replacement of middle-school sump-pump components; no related purchase approvals were recorded.

The board unanimously approved spending up to $50,000 from the general fund to address identified equity needs for K–5 instructional materials and supplies. It discussed the state’s Section 31a safety and mental-health funding, but deferred a decision until after the audit and review of prior spending, remaining balances, eligible uses, and potential projects. The board also approved an annual summer tax resolution 7–0. Separately, it approved individual staff compensation agreements: additional high-school counselor hours, not to exceed 400 hours, passed 5–2; a retroactive clinical-fellowship supervision agreement passed 4–3; and a Schedule B longevity agreement passed 5–2. The band-director agreement was postponed for revision. Neola policies received first-read approval 6–1; no procurement award was made on that item.
