At its October 21, 2026 meeting, the Iberia Parish School Board approved architectural services from Architect Design Studio for two bond-funded projects: Jeanerette High School reroofing for a fixed fee of $168,644 and the Westgate High School new weight room for a fixed fee of $81,144. Both fees were described as 7% of project budgets and funded through the 2023 bond renewal’s architectural, engineering, testing, and inspection allocation. The board also approved a request to raise the district’s Fuelman credit-card limit from $200,000 to $300,000 due to increased fuel and diesel costs. It approved a declaration of substantial completion for Westgate High School gym repairs and new finishes; no payment was associated with that item. The consent agenda, which included progress payments, capital-improvement progress payments, and budget revisions, also passed.
On employee health coverage, the board voted to renew the retirees’ Medicare Advantage plan with Blue Cross rather than follow the insurance committee’s recommendation to switch to United Healthcare. The discussion cited a small increase in retiree premiums—approximately $9 or $15 depending on the plan—and no additional cost to the district under the Blue Cross option. The board also approved updating the 2026–2027 salary schedule to reflect a one-time, non-recurring state stipend. The monthly health-plan and sales-tax reports were presented, but no related purchasing decisions were identified.
