The Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission held its regular meeting on October 20, 2026. The commission recommended that the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center be found eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and directed staff to send its comments to the State Historic Preservation Officer. The nomination was funded through a National Park Service Underrepresented Communities grant. The commission also recommended that the City Council approve local landmark designation for the Lane House at 623 8th Avenue Southeast; the owner had nominated the property and hopes to use the historic exception process to establish a bed and breakfast. Both recommendations passed unanimously among members voting.
The commission unanimously adopted its 2027 meeting calendar, which generally provides for two meetings per month, with two retreats or special meetings. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, or other procurement activity were identified.
