The City of Portsmouth, New Hampshire Board of Adjustment met on October 20, 2026. The board noted that the Hope for Tomorrow Foundation application and the 369 Islington Street application had been withdrawn, and the 50 Wind Street application was postponed. It approved the September 15 meeting minutes with corrections. The board granted variances for a residential addition and porch at 64 Woodworth Avenue, and approved a one-year extension for previously granted approvals for a four-story mixed-use building at 84 Pleasant Street and 266–278 State Street. In response to a court remand, the board also voted to identify the easterly lot line as the rear lot line for the existing property at 58 Humphreys Court.
The board approved a special exception for a dog-grooming operation at 100 Albany Street, Unit C, and granted a variance for a psychotherapy office at 230 Lafayette Road, Unit 11D. It denied the request to replace the existing five-foot fence in the front yard at 30 Salem Street. The sign-variance application for 1980 Woodbury Avenue was continued to the November meeting so the applicant could provide additional sign-area and illumination details and the relevant variance requests could be addressed. No procurement, contract award, or purchasing activity was identified.
